Meghan Maris

Meghan Maris is a E-CYT and a graduate  of Loyola Marymount University’s Master of Arts in Yoga Studies with a focus in Yoga Philosophy, Sanskrit, and a candidate of the LMU’s post-graduate Yoga Therapy Certification. During her time in the MA program, Meghan completed the 100 hour Yoga, Mindfulness, and Social Change program as her work centers around integrating yoga practices and theory into lived experience to effectuate social change. Meghan has been teaching postural yoga, yoga breath techniques, and Yoga Philosophy for twenty-four years. 

Meghan was initially trained through the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers and was a staff member of the London ashram from 2001-2004. During those years she lived, learned, and taught alongside her teachers and was steeped in all aspects of Vedic-rooted Yoga Philosophy and applications.  

Meghan returned to Portland, OR in 2004 where she has been teaching Haṭha yoga, as well as Yoga Philosophy integrating the physical and contemplative aspect of Yoga in classes, workshops, series, trainings, and retreats in person at The Practice Space and online through mamaprira.com. She offers private Yoga and Yoga Therapy sessions both in person and online. Her approach to teaching is supportive and methodical. As a “scholar-practitioner,” Meghan aims to bridge the physical aspects of Yoga practices with its various philosophies, while providing historical context and clarification, to support the student to integrate the teachings into a lived experience bestowing wellbeing, cohesion, purpose, and meaning.
