Stacy Anne Murphy

Stacy Anne Murphy first came to Breitenbush for Summer Solstice Healing Retreat (SSHR)  in 1998 with her soon-to-be husband Jef. They looked around and knew they wanted their life together to reflect the values and energy of SSHR. A few years later they each joined the SSHR Council. In 2013 Jef was working full-time on Breitenbush’s Systems Team while Stacy was a full-time teacher for Portland Public Schools. On their 15th wedding anniversary they dedicated themselves to being a threesome; Stacy, Jef and Breitenbush.  Since the fire that commitment has grown stronger.

Stacy has a B.A. in Theater Arts from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. She has worked professionally as a stage manager, director, actor, playwright, clown and has taught theater to 3-18 year olds. She has a Master of Arts in Teaching from Lewis and Clark College where she taught for three summers as an adjunct professor. She has over 20 years of experience as a certified classroom teacher, has been an Arts Specialist for Kindergarten through 8th graders and has taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th graders in self-contained classrooms. Stacy estimates she has worked with 10,000 youth during her lifetime. She ran school-age childcare programs for Leon County Schools in Tallahassee ,Florida, handled snakes for the Tallahassee Junior Museum and was offered her own childrens’ television show as a clown on WFSU. As Youth Education Specialist for the Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross, Stacy wrote curriculum and trained teachers and students in Basic Aid Training, Babysitting, After School Self-Care, and Youth Safety.

When Stacy retired from Portland Public Schools she began leading Family Programs at Breitenbush during school breaks. Since the fire Stacy has been coordinating Service Weeks and Summer Solstice Healing Retreat. She is excited to be coordinating The First Annual Breitenbush Family Summer Camp and hopes that this event will have as long and fruitful of an existence as SSHR, which is in its 46th year.

Along with being a happy wife, Stacy is the mother of Ariel and Sky, loves their partners Brian and Monica, and thoroughly adores her grandchildren Elsa, Kaylan and Patton. She is also the Fairy Godmother of EDGU, which she loves teaching whenever she’s at Breitenbush.
